PURCHASING SPECIALIST

DESCRIPTION

We currently have an opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team on a permanent, full time basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will review and plan material requirements for actual and forecasted sales and purchase items and raw materials necessary for timely, quality production.  

This is an opportunity to be involved with some very exciting and creative projects worldwide and to work alongside a very dedicated and talented group of individuals.  If you are a leader who is looking for a challenge and are never satisfied with the status quo then this may be the perfect role for you.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process purchase order requests for all company projects
  • Control production and operating costs by building strong relationships with suppliers/vendors
  • Source new suppliers, maintain relationships, and negotiate best prices
  • Maintain and analyze material inventory to ensure projected production needs will be met
  • Actively participate with on-going improvement of processes and procedures with the goal of improving quality and effectiveness while reducing costs
  • Work with management on implementing effective purchasing policies and procedures
  • Be responsible for verifying packing slips with purchase order, schedule delivery/pick-ups of purchases, monitor and expedite orders with suppliers
  • Keep informed with progressive building methods and the latest materials available on the market

EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:

The ideal candidate will be a team player, forward-thinking, and eager to make a contribution. In addition, we are looking for someone who has the following minimum requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing role with increasing responsibility
  • Post-secondary education in supply chain management, construction, and/or engineering
  • An understanding of general accounting, project budgets, and procurement
  • In-depth knowledge of modern building methods and materials
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • High attention to detail with strong ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Proficient with MS Office (excel, word, outlook)
  • Experience with Business Vision an asset
  • Experience in a custom manufacturing environment an asset
